Each court requires its own shoe made up of different tread and materials in order to achieve different functions. But why?

01

Grass

A short-trimmed grass turf is very slippery and soft, this surface is delicate and can easily be damaged. Given the slip, balls travel faster on this court than any other but bounce lowest, making speed, agility and quick-winners the greatest asset. Players move a lot here but matches don't last all too long so not too much endurance is needed. Unfortunately, these are few and far between as they are hard to maintain.

02

Clay

A brick base with clay atop it causes this surface to be slippery but rather hard. The ball bounces high but travels slow due to the friction from the clay. Players constantly change direction for a long, extended rally;  turning games on this surface from just technical ability to stamina, endurance and strategy as players need to play intelligently to get their opponent out. These are found majoritarily in Europe.

03

Hard

Concrete all the way through makes it a very solid court. The balls bounce highest and travel moderately fast. This often called an all-round court as this can suit every type of player with both long-lasting matches and quick rallies; making it great to teach beginners on as well. This court however is hardest on joints and has hard impacts. These can be found for the most part in America, and less so elsewhere.
